‘Wisdom Frieze’ High Court of Justiciary, Glasgow

Type: Architectural, Public Commissions Completed:

Portuguese limestone, 45 metres

Early commissions for public sculpture came through Art in Partnership in Scotland, including the Wisdom Frieze for Glasgow’s High Court of Justiciary completed in 1997. The edge of the balcony running around the atrium of the new extension to the old buildings provided a blank canvas 45 meters long and a metre high. I chose texts related to the subject of wisdom taken from the Bible and the philosophical writings of David Hume.
